Robert G. Friel, 90, of Myerstown, died Saturday, February 4, 2012 at ManorCare Health Services, Lebanon.

He was the husband of Charlotte J. "Sally" (Mahar) Friel who died on August 2, 2011.

Born in Brooklyn, NY on November 27, 1921, he was the son of the late Harold G. and Estelle (Marhoffer) Friel.

Following his service in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II, he was employed as a District Sales Manager by the Dental Division of Johnson & Johnson, New Brunswick, NJ, for 20 years. He worshipped in the Catholic Faith and was a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by daughters Patricia L. Friel of Baltimore, MD, Nancy R. wife of Ronald Maas of Bridgeville, DE, Barbara A. wife of Robert Artz of Denver, PA, Kristine M. wife of David Hill of Hopatcong, NJ; son R. Timothy husband of Lucy Friel of Califon, NJ; 12 grandchildren,6 great grandchildren; and a sister, Jane I. Oliver of Ocala, FL.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. from Mary Gate of Heaven Catholic Church, 188 W. McKinley Ave., Myerstown. Viewing at 9:30 a.m at Grose Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown. Interment with full military honors will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
