Cornelius W. "Neil" Maat, Jr., 72, of Myerstown, formerly of Northern Virginia, died Monday, February 20, 2012 at his residence. He was the husband of Virginia L. (Ortt) Maat to whom he was married 40 years on November 15, 2011. Born in Milford, Connecticut on April 4, 1939, he was the son of the late Cornelius and Rita (Quinn) Maat. He was a 1956 graduate of Clifton High School, New Jersey, and later earned a Bachelor's Degree in Economics from Fairleigh-Dickinson University in 1960. He was a land development project manager for several large companies in the Northern Virginia, Maryland and D.C. areas for about 40 years, and was a pharmaceutical salesman for Johnson & Johnson Medical Company in Long Island, New York, for 8 years. A member of Zion United Methodist Church, Myerstown, he was an avid reader and enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Wendy of Texas; sons Wesley of New Jersey, Price of Missouri, Owen of Texas; granddaughters Emily and Kathryn; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. from Zion United Methodist Church, Myerstown. Viewing at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family at Parkwood Cemetery, Baltimore, Maryland. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Zion United Methodist Church, 22 E. Main Ave., Myerstown, PA 17067. Relatives and friends are invited to a luncheon following the service at the church. Grose Funeral Home, Myerstown, is entrusted with the arrangements.
