William K. "Bill" Monaghan, of Stouchsburg, died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the age of 64.

Bill was the loving husband of Deborah L. Bass and devoted father of his adopted daughter Betsey Ann Lawrence.

Born July 31, 1947 in Lansdale, PA, he was the son of the late William and Agnes (Hannas) Monaghan.

Bill was a member of Mary Gate of Heaven Catholic Church in Myerstown and was sexton for the past two years.

He graduated from Lansdale Catholic in 1965 and served his country in the Air Force from 1965 to 1969.

Bill traveled around the world pursuing his love of scuba diving. He was the owner of the Jolly Roger Dive Shop in Richland where he taught the sport to others.

Well known for his expertise in restoring and repairing pipe organs, he was an organ technician for Walker Technical in Zionsville. Bill had the honor of working on many famous pipe organs including the Metropolitan Opera House in New York, the Naval Academy, and the Opera House in Australia. He also worked privately repairing and tuning local organs.

Bill is also survived by brothers Pat and his wife Barbara of Lansdale, Charles and his wife Rose of Perkasie, John and his wife Margie of Sunnydale, CA; sister Mary Sypauka and her husband Steve of Harleysville; and many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 11 a.m. in Mary Gate of Heaven Catholic Church, Myerstown. There will be no viewing or visitation. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bill's memory may be made to the "Building Fund" of Mary Gate of Heaven Catholic Church, 188 W. McKinley Ave., Myerstown, PA 17067. Grose Funeral Home, Myerstown, is entrusted with the arrangements.
